Job Summary:

Responsible for overseeing the team and ensuring the precision of installations. Serves as the primary contact for critical matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Space Planning & Design

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for intricate and distinctive cage-cabinet design options that align with customer needs, Equinix standards, and physical site limitations, while also devising design solutions for escalated issues at senior management levels.
  • Provides test-fits for new Data Center developments (FDC).
  • Mentors Senior Capacity Planners and junior team members to resolve complex space planning challenges.
  • Optimizes space utilization to formulate the most effective design solutions.
  • Prepares conceptual Cage-Cabinet layouts, area calculations, and diagrams for each data center and those requiring Senior SME level support.

Problem Solving

  • Addresses complex, cross-functional issues with business implications that involve multiple teams.
  • Identifies and comprehends underlying challenges.
  • Takes initiative to resolve issues in collaboration with Business Leads and mitigate associated risks.

Data & Drawing Management

  • Collaborates with site operations to document added infrastructure in facilities and any special or complex customer cage installations.
  • Ensures that AutoCAD drawings or alternative visual representations accurately depict site installations.
  • Guides site teams to guarantee that data and CAD drawings reflect the actual site configurations.
  • Leads investigations into complex data issues independently.
  • Manages intricate data errors for complex installations and engages business leads to mitigate risks and resolve critical data discrepancies.
  • Coaches others in addressing special or complex drawing management challenges.

Collaboration

  • Acts as a senior advisor, providing guidance to entry-level and intermediate planners as needed to analyze and resolve technical problems outside standard processes.
  • Monitors team workload and reallocates tasks as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Coordinates with various departments for monthly reporting on capacity trends, availability, and record accuracy for the site.
  • Suggests improvements.

Capacity Feasibility & Optimization

  • Recommends strategies to Data Center business owners to enhance efficiency and utilization.
  • Proactively leads initiatives to address complex challenges.

Project Management

  • Initiates, plans, and executes capacity-related projects aligned with strategic objectives and key results.
  • Develops implementation strategies and success metrics, including KPIs.
  • Coordinates team efforts and manages stakeholder relationships associated with projects.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally possesses several years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrates intrinsic motivation to lead and support a team.
  • Holds a bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment where mutual support is valued.
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD 2D.
  • Understands the broader implications of actions within a larger context.
  • Motivated to engage directly with various stakeholders.
  • Capable of identifying, analyzing, prioritizing, and resolving challenges where stakeholder needs may conflict.
  • Exhibits a strong willingness to learn and grow both in this role and personally.
  • Possesses good English communication and writing skills.
  • Has a basic understanding of the data center industry and technical knowledge.
  • Familiar with databases and CRM software.
  • Ideally knowledgeable in agile methodologies and tools (preferably Jira).
  • Ideally has knowledge in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  • Experienced with Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
