Position Overview:

The Capacity Engineering Manager oversees the team and ensures the precision of installations, serving as the primary contact for critical matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Space Planning & Design:

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for intricate cage-cabinet design options that meet customer needs, Equinix standards, and site constraints, while providing design solutions for escalated issues.
  • Conduct test-fits for new Data Center developments.
  • Mentor Senior Capacity Planners and junior team members in resolving complex space planning challenges.
  • Optimize space utilization to create the most effective design solutions.
  • Prepare conceptual Cage-Cabinet layouts, area calculations, and diagrams for each data center requiring senior-level support.

Problem Solving:

  • Address complex, cross-functional issues with business implications across multiple teams.
  • Identify and analyze underlying problems.
  • Lead efforts to resolve issues in collaboration with Business Leads and mitigate associated risks.

Data & Drawing Management:

  • Collaborate with site operations to document added infrastructure and any specialized installations.
  • Ensure that AutoCAD drawings or alternative visualizations accurately depict installed components.
  • Guide site teams to maintain accurate data and CAD drawings reflecting site installations.
  • Investigate complex data issues independently.
  • Manage complex data errors for intricate installations, involving business leads to mitigate risks.
  • Coach others in resolving special or complex drawing management challenges.

Collaboration:

  • Serve as a senior advisor, providing guidance to entry and intermediate planners in analyzing and resolving technical issues.
  • Monitor team workload and redistribute tasks as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate with various departments for monthly reporting on capacity trends and record accuracy.
  • Suggest improvements to processes.

Capacity Feasibility & Optimization:

  • Recommend strategies to Data Center business owners to enhance efficiency and utilization.
  • Proactively lead initiatives to address complex challenges.

Project Management:

  • Initiate and deliver capacity-related projects aligned with strategic objectives and key results.
  • Develop implementation strategies and success metrics.
  • Coordinate team efforts and manage stakeholder relationships associated with projects.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a related field.
  • Strong intrinsic motivation to lead and support a team.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.
  • Understanding of the broader implications of actions within the business context.
  • Strong motivation to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, prioritize, and resolve competing stakeholder challenges.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and personal growth.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
  • Basic understanding of the data center industry and technical knowledge.
  • Familiarity with databases and CRM software.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and tools (preferably Jira).
  • Understanding of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
