Job Summary:

As a Capacity Engineer Manager, you will oversee the team and be responsible for the accuracy of installations. You will act as the point of contact for critical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Space Planning & Design:
    • Develop complex and unique cage-cabinet design options that respond to customer requirements, Equinix requirements, and physical site constraints.
    • Provide test-fits for new Data Center developments.
    • Act as a mentor to Senior Capacity Planners and below to solve complex space planning issues.
    • Maximize space utilization to develop the best design solution.
    • Prepare notional Cage-Cabinet layouts, area calculations, and diagrams for each individual data center and those sites that require Senior SME level support.
  • Problem Solving:
    • Solve complex, cross-functional issues with business implications that span multiple groups.
    • Identify and understand underlying issues.
    • Take the lead to solve issues with business leads and mitigate risks.
  • Data & Drawing Management:
    • Work with site operations to document added infrastructure in facilities and any special or complex installation of customer cages.
    • Ensure that AutoCAD drawings or alternative visualizations represent what is installed at the site.
    • Lead site teams to ensure data and CAD drawings accurately reflect the site installations.
    • Lead the investigation of complex data issues without support.
    • Deal with complex data errors for complex installations and involve business leads to mitigate risks and solve Equinix's most critical data errors.
    • Lead/coach others to solve special/complex drawing management issues.
  • Collaboration:
    • Act as a senior advisor and provide direction to entry and intermediate planners as required to analyze and resolve out-of-process technical problems.
    • Monitor workload and redistribute tasks as required to meet deadlines.
    • Coordinate with various departments for the monthly reporting of capacity trends, availability, and accuracy of records for the site.
    • Propose changes.
  • Capacity Feasibility & Optimization:
    • Make recommendations to Data Center business owners to optimize Data Center efficiency and utilization.
    • Proactively lead the business to solve complex problems.
  • Project Management:
    • Initiate plans and deliver capacity-related projects aligned with strategic objectives and key results.
    • Develop implementation approaches and success metrics, KPIs.
    • Coordinate teams and be responsible for stakeholder management associated with the project.

Qualifications:

  • Proven years of related experience.
  • Intrinsic motivation to lead and support a team.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Accomplishment to work and integrate in a diverse team where people appreciate and support each other.
  • Ability to use AutoCAD 2D.
  • Driver to understand the background and consequences of actions in a bigger picture.
  • Motivation to directly engage with different stakeholders.
  • Identify, analyze, prioritize, and solve challenges where different stakeholder needs are competing.
  • Above all, a great willingness to learn more and grow in this role and as a person.
  • Good English language communication and writing skills.
  • Basic understanding of the data center business and technical knowledge.
  • Knowledge to handle databases and CRM software.
  • Ideal knowledge in agile working and agile working tools (optimally Jira).
  • Ideal knowledge in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics).
  • Knowledge and experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
