Cardiology Specialist

This is a unique chance for a motivated clinician to contribute to delivering high-quality care for Cardiology patients at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust while specializing in structural cardiology.
The purpose of this post is to provide comprehensive training in structural cardiac interventions, with a primary focus on TAVI, as well as other interventions such as mitral-clip, replacement, and mitral valvuloplasty, and stroke prevention therapies like LAA closure, paravalvular leaks, and septal defects. The appointee will be part of the Structural Heart Team, responsible for patient data and anatomy analysis, procedural planning, and structural clinics.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in focused structural research, with ample opportunities for publication. Previous fellows have contributed to research activities leading to peer-reviewed publications.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract. Full GMC registration with a license to practice is required.
Key Responsibilities- Work under the direct supervision of Consultant cardiologists to gain exposure to complex cardiac interventions.
- Undertake procedures in the lab, with a minimum of 4-6 sessions per week.
- Attend regular weekly meetings and monthly MDT meetings to discuss patient management.
- Participate in out-patient clinics and may be required to join the registrar on-call rota.
- MBBS or equivalent qualification.
- GMC registration.
- MRCP or equivalent.
- Evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Cardiology.
- Advanced Life Support Training.
- Experience in medical audit.
- Commitment to medical audit.
- Understanding of the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and respect.
- Ability to demonstrate compassionate and inclusive leadership.
