Job Summary

The purpose of this post is to offer comprehensive training in structural cardiac interventions with primary emphasis on TAVI, as well as other interventions, such as mitral-clip, replacement, and mitral valvuloplasty, and stroke prevention therapies (LAA closure, paravalvular leaks, septal defects). The appointee will be part of the Structural Heart Team (MDT, patient data and anatomy analysis, procedural planning, and structural clinics).

Main Duties
  • Work under the direct supervision of Consultant cardiologists (Professor Kovac and Dr Roberts) for the duration of the appointment to gain exposure to complex cardiac interventions.
  • Undertake procedures (4-6 sessions per week) in the lab, with no regular ward commitment, but occasional in-patient care duties.
  • Attend regular weekly Wednesday lunchtime and monthly Heart-Brain and monthly mitral MDT meetings to discuss patient management.
  • Participate in focused structural research, with opportunities for peer-reviewed publications.
Person Specification
  • MBBS or Equivalent
  • GMC Registration
  • MRCP or Equivalent
  • Evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Cardiology
  • Advanced Life Support Training

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract. Full GMC registration with a license to practice is required.
