Lead and Develop a High-Performing IT Support Team

Bournemouth & Poole College is seeking an experienced and passionate IT Desktop Support Team Leader to join our dynamic IT department. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and developing a team of skilled technicians, ensuring the smooth operation of our desktop infrastructure, and providing exceptional support to students and staff.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and guide a team of Desktop and Service Desk staff, fostering a culture of excellence in support delivery and continuous professional development.
  • Desktop Infrastructure Management: Oversee the management and maintenance of desktop systems, including Active Directory, group policy, deployment tools, and endpoint security.
  • Application Support and Deployment: Deliver and support a diverse range of applications used by students and staff, ensuring seamless integration with our IT infrastructure.
  • Cybersecurity and Compliance: Implement robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard against threats, including patch management, vulnerability assessments, and user awareness training.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Senior MITS Managers and Network Managers to ensure the seamless operation of College IT systems, including Microsoft and Azure AD infrastructures, desktop automation systems, Office tenancy, network topologies, and Audio-Visual services.
Your Qualifications:

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record in IT support and team leadership.

  • Demonstrable passion for IT and IT Systems.
  • Prior experience working within an IT support environment, resolving user requests, and providing technical assistance.
  • Strong understanding of PC hardware components and experience in troubleshooting and maintaining desktop systems.
  • Experience in administering User and Desktop environments including: Active Directory user and group administration, Group Policy configuration, SCCM and InTune application delivery and packaging.
  • Proficient in supporting various Windows operating systems and a wide range of software applications.
  • Proven knowledge of communications technology and physical network Infrastructure.
  • Minimum of Level 4 National Qualification in IT or a Computing related subject OR Level 3 National Qualification in IT or a Computing related subject AND a commitment to achieve a Level 4 qualification within 2 years.
