Your Future Responsibilities

Embrace a new challenge and leverage your procurement expertise in a dynamic environment. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will collaborate with other members of our extensive procurement team. The Senior Buyer position is pivotal within Alstom, presenting significant opportunities for personal and professional growth. Your primary responsibility will be to implement Alstom's Indirect Procurement strategy in the UK, managing procurement activities with suppliers with an annual spend of approximately £450 million. You will oversee procurement operations across various domains while ensuring that Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all business needs are competitively sourced in compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Define commodity strategies aligned with central directives.
  • Manage the Sourcing Plan and ensure Business Awards align with business requirements.
  • Lead cost-saving initiatives within your scope.
  • Negotiate Terms & Conditions on behalf of the organization.
  • Introduce innovation into the Supply Chain by benchmarking suppliers/products and integrating new suppliers/technologies to enhance QCD performance.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with suppliers to drive improvements in QCD performance.
  • Address any contractual or performance issues related to supplier agreements promptly.
  • Respond to supplier and internal inquiries professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Provide comprehensive procurement support for identified project activities and requirements.
  • Act as an ambassador for Alstom and the Procurement function, both internally and externally.

Candidate Profile

We prioritize passion and attitude over experience. While we do not expect you to possess every skill, the following qualifications will enhance your success in this role:

  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within the Rail Industry or a related sector.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Educational background at degree level or equivalent experience, with a CIPS qualification (or currently pursuing CIPS).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in Business Improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma).
  • Solid understanding of Contract Law.
