Our client is on the lookout for a proactive Indirect Procurement Category Specialist to oversee a diverse portfolio of expenditures exceeding millions annually. In this role, you will be responsible for fostering stakeholder relationships for early engagement in projects, formulating category strategies, and efficiently procuring goods and services while maximizing cost-effectiveness. Additionally, you will actively seek new opportunities by leveraging market insights and your expertise.

Key Responsibilities for the Indirect Procurement Category Specialist:

  • Implement aspects of the global Procurement strategy pertinent to assigned categories.
  • Work closely with the Procurement Director to devise and execute category and sub-category strategies and initiatives.
  • Identify synergy opportunities through integration with the supply base.
  • Evaluate risks and propose risk-based strategies to optimize time, effort, value, and risk in procurement activities.
  • Conduct market research, manage tender processes, analyze data, and negotiate to achieve savings within a framework of best practices.
  • Lead or support category negotiations to secure savings, value, and efficiencies.
  • Introduce market innovations that enhance value and reduce risks.
  • Establish and maintain key supplier relationships to improve supply chain management, process enhancements, and contract oversight.
  • Gather and analyze spending and market data to inform procurement strategies.
  • Oversee significant and complex supplier contracts, ensuring value and compliance.
  • Contribute to sustainable supply chain initiatives aimed at reducing carbon impact and achieving net-zero goals.

Key Skills & Experience Required by the Indirect Procurement Category Specialist:

Essential:

  • Strong leadership and influencing capabilities.
  • Experience in category management and sourcing a wide array of goods and services.
  • Demonstrated success in developing category strategies.
  • Expertise in negotiation, risk evaluation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end RFP processes, contract awards, and supplier management.
  • Familiarity with contract law and legal principles.

Desirable:

  • Degree-level education.
  • CIPS certification or progress towards it.
