Your Role Overview

As a pivotal member of our procurement team, the Senior Buyer Indirect UK&I will play a crucial role in executing Alstom's Indirect Procurement strategy across the UK. This position involves managing procurement activities with suppliers, overseeing a substantial annual spend.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure all business needs are sourced competitively, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Develop commodity strategies aligned with central directives.
  • Manage the Sourcing Plan, ensuring timely completion of Business Awards.
  • Lead cost-saving initiatives within your scope.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions on behalf of the organization.
  • Introduce innovation into the supply chain by benchmarking suppliers and products.
  • Conduct regular supplier reviews to enhance performance.
  • Address any contractual or performance issues promptly.
  • Provide comprehensive procurement support for identified projects.
  • Represent Alstom and the procurement function with professionalism.

Candidate Profile

We prioritize passion and attitude over extensive experience. While we do not expect you to possess every skill, the following qualifications will contribute to your success:

  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within the Rail Industry or a related sector.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience, with a CIPS qualification (or in progress).

Desirable Skills:

  • Background in Business Improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma).
  • Solid understanding of contract law.
