Financial Analyst - Accounting Services

Location: Swindon

Salary: £37,000 - £45,000

This role is integral to our Finance Department, where you will collaborate closely with various divisions within our Chief Operating Officer's unit. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain insights into the Society's technological framework and investment strategies.

The COO Finance team plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity of the Society, guiding the effective use of member funds, and enhancing customer offerings to optimize revenue generation. As part of this team, you will deliver essential financial guidance and analytical support to key stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.

At Nationwide, we embrace a hybrid working model that fosters productive relationships among colleagues across our extensive UK network while allowing for flexible home working arrangements. We believe that in-person collaboration is vital for problem-solving, learning, and connection.

In this position, you will be expected to spend a minimum of two days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

As a Financial Analyst, you will possess a solid background in management accounting and have substantial experience with financial data. You will thrive in a dynamic environment characterized by tight deadlines and competing priorities. A curious mindset and a willingness to challenge and enhance existing processes are essential. You will engage with various business areas to advance the finance agenda effectively.

This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or those seeking to transition into a more commercially-oriented position. It offers a chance to refine technical skills, analyze financial data, and generate meaningful insights for stakeholders. Additionally, you will develop your stakeholder management and influencing capabilities by collaborating with colleagues across the Society.

The primary focus of this role will be to assist in the Integration Investment initiatives across COO and Technology Sub-Portfolios, optimizing resource utilization, driving efficiencies, and supporting critical management decisions within the Strategic Investment Portfolio.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or finalist with a strong exam record.
  • Considerable experience in a financial setting.
  • Proficient in Excel, with a proven ability to consolidate extensive data into management reports.
  • Skilled in presenting financial information to senior stakeholders with a strategic perspective.
