Financial Analyst - Accounting Specialist

Location: Swindon

Salary: £37,000 - £45,000

This position is a vital role within our Finance Division, focusing on collaboration with various departments within our Chief Operating Officer's unit. You will gain essential insights into the Society's technological framework and investment management strategies.

The COO Finance team plays a crucial role in executing the Society's strategic objectives. Our mission is to uphold Nationwide's financial integrity by ensuring prudent expenditure of our members' funds and developing exceptional customer offerings to enhance revenue opportunities. Key Responsibilities

As a Financial Analyst, you will possess prior experience in fundamental management accounting functions. You will have substantial experience handling financial data and will excel in a fast-paced environment characterized by strict deadlines and competing priorities. Your inquisitive nature and willingness to challenge and enhance existing processes will be essential. You will be motivated to effectively engage and influence various business areas to advance the finance agenda.

This entry-level role is ideal for individuals who are newly qualified or seeking to transition into a more commercially oriented position. It offers an opportunity to develop advanced technical skills, interpreting financial data to generate management information and insights for stakeholders. Additionally, it provides a platform to enhance stakeholder management, commercial acumen, and influencing skills by collaborating with colleagues across the Society regarding cost management in their respective areas.

The primary focus of this role will be to assist in the proposed Integration Investment initiatives across COO and Technology Sub-Portfolios, optimizing resource utilization, driving efficiency, and supporting key management decisions across the Strategic Investment Portfolio. You will play a pivotal role in linking current delivery outcomes while striving for value for money.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or finalist with a proven track record of passing professional examinations.
  • Extensive experience in a financial setting.
  • Exceptional Excel skills with a background in consolidating large datasets into management information.
  • Proficient in presenting financial information for senior stakeholders and capable of maintaining a holistic perspective.
