Position Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable professionals to become part of our Band 6 Physiotherapy General Rotations program.

The inpatient therapy team at Barts Health NHS Trust provides comprehensive care to patients across a variety of specialties. Rotational opportunities encompass areas such as Acute Assessment Units, Geriatric Services, Surgical Departments (including Vascular and Amputee care, as well as various surgical specialties), Stroke Rehabilitation, Specialist Medical Services (including Respiratory and Renal care), Neurotrauma, Adult Intensive Care, and Pediatric Respiratory Services, along with additional specialty rotations in Oncology and Musculoskeletal Outpatient care.

This full-time position requires participation in the Respiratory On-Call Rota and weekend shifts. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, possess exceptional communication abilities, and demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist in organizing, developing, and delivering a high-quality physiotherapy service to a diverse range of in-patients. Rotations are structured over nine months and currently include:

- Acute Assessment Units and Geriatric Services

- Surgical Departments (including Hepatobiliary, General Surgery, and Vascular care)

- Stroke Rehabilitation

- Specialist Medical Services (including Respiratory, Renal, Cardiology, and Infectious Diseases)

- Neurotrauma (including Neurology and Acute Neurosciences, Major Trauma, and Orthoplastics)

- Adult Critical Care

- Pediatric Respiratory Services

Essential Criteria

  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registration

Desirable Criteria

  • Membership in the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
  • Membership in a relevant Special Interest Group
  • Completion of postgraduate courses relevant to the clinical field

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Broad range of postgraduate experience, including respiratory, neurosciences, orthopedics, and musculoskeletal
  • Experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Contribution to the clinical education of less experienced staff, students, or assistants

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in acute neurosurgery and/or major trauma
  • Experience in critical care
  • Acute NHS experience

Skills

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Capability to meet the physical demands of the role on a daily basis
  • Proficient computer and IT skills
