Position Overview
Are you a recent graduate in physiotherapy or an experienced Band 5 professional eager to enhance your expertise? We offer full-time, permanent roles within our dedicated physiotherapy team.
The physiotherapy division at North Middlesex University Hospital is seeking passionate, innovative team members to join our vibrant service. We are in search of physiotherapists who are driven to reach their full potential. You will collaborate with a supportive group of clinical specialists, including Band 7 and Band 6 physiotherapists, acquiring the essential experience required for advancement to senior positions.
Your caseload will be diverse and engaging, rotating through the following areas:
- Acute Stroke/Neurology
- Medical/Oncology
- Respiratory/ICU
- Orthopaedics/Surgery
- Musculoskeletal Outpatients
- Acute Medicine for the Elderly
You will benefit from regular supervision, in-service training, and educational opportunities to further enhance your skills. We are committed to supporting your development, including the ability to supervise your own students.
Funding for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is available for relevant courses identified through a training needs analysis.

Main Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting physiotherapy assessments and treatments across each rotation, functioning as an autonomous practitioner.
- Effectively communicating with patients, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members in both verbal and written formats.
- Consolidating your knowledge and skills within each rotation and applying them in other areas.
- Assisting Team Leaders in managing a clinically efficient service.
- Seeking guidance and support from senior staff or colleagues when uncertain about clinical or procedural matters.
- Participating fully in the 7-day rota and emergency on-call duties.
- Maintaining accurate daily statistical records to support the Finance department.
- Keeping an up-to-date CPD portfolio to support your HCPC registration.
- Contributing to the Service's achievement of the London Quality Standards mandated by the Trust.

Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
- Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Desirable:
- Membership in the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
- Membership in a Special Interest Group
Skills and Abilities
Essential:
- Ability to articulate clinical reasoning in case management
- Capability to identify and respond to adverse clinical signs
- Effective communication of complex information to patients, caregivers, and other health professionals
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong time management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks
- Self-directed learning and critical evaluation of personal learning needs, demonstrated in a CPD portfolio
- Proficient in producing clear and concise written and verbal reports in English
- Good presentation skills
- IT proficiency, including the use of hospital databases and word processing
- Ability to manage stress and work effectively in a dynamic environment while providing support to others

- Advanced IT skills, including data management and complex spreadsheet creation

Experience
Essential:
- A broad range of undergraduate experience across core specialties
- Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable:
- Previous experience at Band 5
- Experience in an NHS environment
- Participation in audit and evidence-based practice
- Active involvement in in-service training and multidisciplinary team groups
- Research experience
- Experience in managing limited resources and high workloads
Knowledge
Essential:
- Understanding of evidence-based practice relevant to physiotherapy
- Awareness of national guidelines and standards applicable to physiotherapy
- Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for physiotherapy
- Knowledge of the legal responsibilities of the profession
Desirable:
- Awareness of NHS structure, current issues, and developments
