Position Overview

Are you looking to advance your career in the field of paediatric physiotherapy? We are offering a band 6 position within our extensive, well-established, and supportive team of dedicated and highly skilled physiotherapists.

You will be part of the Evelina Community Physiotherapy Service, providing care across various regions, working with children aged 0-19 from a variety of backgrounds.

This service delivers therapy to children facing a broad spectrum of conditions in diverse environments, including child development centres, residential facilities, educational institutions (both special and mainstream), nurseries, and community or recreational centres. Additionally, we conduct therapy groups, orthotics clinics, and collaborative follow-up clinics with paediatricians and neonatal specialists.

You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, which includes occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and experienced paediatricians.

Role Responsibilities

The position entails at least one six-month rotation within one of the Evelina acute teams, with whom we maintain strong connections.

We have a comprehensive staff appraisal system and clinical supervision to foster professional growth. You will engage in regular professional governance meetings and contribute to service enhancement initiatives. There will be numerous opportunities to refine your clinical skills and pursue areas of clinical interest, supported by senior physiotherapists who oversee various clinical specialties.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality physiotherapy services to a caseload of children aged 0-19 within community settings, addressing a wide range of developmental challenges and/or disabilities, including complex or multiple conditions.
  • Providing advanced physiotherapy assessment, treatment, management, and guidance to paediatric patients and their families within the community.
  • Functioning as an independent practitioner, occasionally collaborating with junior team members across various locations to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Developing specialized knowledge and expertise in paediatric physiotherapy to become a recognized specialist in the field.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • A broad range of post-registration experience as a band 5 physiotherapist in a rotational capacity.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Significant experience in paediatrics, particularly in neurology and developmental paediatrics.
  • Experience in NHS community settings, including knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and equipment usage.

Desirable:

  • Experience in orthotics and familiarity with paediatric outcome measures.
  • Experience in supervising other physiotherapists or support staff.
  • Involvement in research, service development, or project work.

Skills

Essential:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of a variety of paediatric neuro-developmental and neurological conditions.
  • Able to create care plans tailored to different environments.
  • Proficient in presenting information clearly and logically, both in writing and verbally.
  • Competent in using information technology, including electronic record systems.
  • Capable of managing and organizing your own caseload effectively.
  • Ability to identify SMART goals related to impairment and community participation.

Desirable:

  • Possession of a valid driving license for community-based work.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential:

  • State registration as a physiotherapist with the Health Care Professional Council.

Desirable:

  • Membership in the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
  • Membership in the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists (APCP).
