Job Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist to become a vital member of our Physiotherapy team within the Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

This role involves providing expert physiotherapy assessment and intervention for children aged 0 to 25 years, serving as a crucial resource for their families and caregivers across various environments. The position encompasses a diverse range of assessment and intervention experiences tailored to meet the unique physiotherapy needs of children within a community context. You will have the chance to deliver services from our central clinic, as well as in community settings such as children's centers, nurseries, schools, and home visits. Our service is designed to provide comprehensive care to children and young people (CYP), and you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists.

You will have the opportunity to work across specialized teams within Children's Physiotherapy, including Under 5's and Mainstream teams, and gain valuable experience in Special Schools. Our well-established leadership structure, comprising experienced Band 7 therapists, will support you, and you will have access to a tailored training and support program. Participation in our 'Team Days' will allow you to contribute and engage with your colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

As part of a forward-thinking and innovative team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering a specialized physiotherapy service for children with disabilities in community settings.
  • Assessing the functional needs of children and young people (CYP) to develop and implement tailored physiotherapy treatment plans.
  • Independently managing a defined caseload of complex cases, demonstrating high-level problem-solving and reasoning skills.
  • Providing guidance and education to families and caregivers regarding the management of children with physical disabilities, including development, posture, movement, and coordination challenges.

Position Summary

The Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist will deliver expert physiotherapy assessment and intervention to children aged 0 to 25 years, serving as a resource for their families and caregivers across various settings.

You will collaborate closely with other services and agencies to ensure a seamless and coordinated service based on best practices. Additionally, you will contribute to service development and provide regular updates on issues relevant to your specialist area.

You will also provide training and support for families and caregivers regarding issues related to Children's Physiotherapy.

Registration Requirements

  • HPCP registered

Qualifications

  • Essential: BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Desirable: Attendance at postgraduate paediatric-specific training courses

Experience

  • Essential: Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
  • Desirable: Evidence of postgraduate work experience in the specialist field of Paediatrics

Knowledge and Skills

  • Essential: Evidence of training courses relevant to current Paediatric Physiotherapy practice
  • Essential: Understanding of working practices within the NHS
  • Desirable: Previous work experience within the NHS
  • Essential: Evidence of supervising staff
  • Essential: Evidence of working effectively within a team
