Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Cardiac Physiologist to enhance our team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This role will involve working across multiple sites, ensuring high-quality cardiac care and expertise.

The successful candidate will deliver advanced professional knowledge in the Cardiac Cath Lab and oversee pacemaker/device follow-up clinics. Additionally, they will serve as a vital resource within the technical cardiology department, offering specialized guidance and support.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct a comprehensive range of clinical-technical investigations and interventions in the cardiology sector to a proficient professional standard. Utilize specialized knowledge and skills in Cath Lab and Pacing to manage pacing clinics effectively. Collaborate with the Lead Cardiac Physiologist to ensure the delivery of routine Cardiac Physiology clinical-technical services as required. Facilitate complex pacing clinics, including home monitoring, and perform various cath lab procedures. Contribute significantly to the training and ongoing professional development of colleagues and students.

Clinical Duties

Provide specialized professional expertise in the Cardiac Cath Lab and pacemaker/device follow-up clinics, acting as a resource within the technical cardiology service. Execute a variety of standard and complex investigations as requested by clinicians, including device clinics and diagnostic procedures. Analyze intricate information, utilizing scientific knowledge and personal judgment to make informed decisions. Optimize the performance of pacemakers and internal defibrillators, tailoring them to meet individual patient needs while ensuring safety and comfort. Be prepared to manage any outcomes during or after tests, including emergency situations. Assist in urgent procedures, such as acute PCI transfers. Serve as a specialist in the field, providing professional advice as necessary. Show interest in performing Tilt tests, aiming to gain proficiency in these assessments. Possess experience in all standard cardiac investigations within a cardiac physiology department. Supervise stress tests and demonstrate competence in handling any outcomes that may arise.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent). Advanced clinical postgraduate qualification such as BHRS, IBHRE, or equivalent. Evidence of ongoing professional development. RCCP registration or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of specialist experience in Cath Lab/Pacing.

Desirable Qualifications

Progressing towards specialist practitioner accreditation in a cardiac physiology area with an interest in physiologist-led syncope pathways.
