Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Cardiac Physiologist to become a vital member of our team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This role will encompass responsibilities across multiple sites, providing essential support in both the Cardiac Cath Lab and pacing clinics.

The successful candidate will deliver expert professional knowledge in the specialized setting of the Cardiac Cath Lab and lead physiologist-managed pacemaker/device follow-up clinics. Additionally, the post-holder will serve as a key resource within the technical cardiology services, offering specialist guidance and support.

Key Responsibilities

Execute a comprehensive array of clinical-technical investigative procedures and interventions in the cardiology domain, maintaining a high standard of professional competency. Utilize specialized knowledge and skills in Cath Lab and Pacing to assist in managing pacing clinics effectively. Collaborate with the Lead Cardiac Physiologist in various sections of Cardiac Services, ensuring the delivery of routine clinical-technical services as needed. Conduct complex pacing clinics, including home monitoring, and perform a variety of cath lab procedures. Play a significant role in the training and professional development of both staff and students.

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide specialized professional expertise in the Cardiac Cath Lab and physiologist-led pacemaker/device follow-up clinics, acting as a resource within the technical cardiology service. Perform a variety of standard and complex investigations as requested by clinicians, including device clinics and cath lab procedures. Analyze intricate information that may be technical and/or clinical, employing current scientific knowledge and personal judgment to determine the best course of action. Utilize advanced skills to optimize the performance of pacemakers and internal defibrillators, tailoring them to meet individual patient needs while ensuring safety and comfort. Be prepared to manage any outcomes during or after tests, including potential resuscitation efforts. Assist in emergency procedures, including acute PCI transfers. Serve as a specialist in the field, providing professional advice as necessary. Develop proficiency in performing Tilt tests, with the aim of becoming adept in these investigations. Demonstrate experience in all standard cardiac investigations conducted within a cardiac physiology department. Supervise stress tests and be competent in managing any outcomes that may arise from these investigations.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent). Advanced clinical postgraduate qualification such as BHRS, IBHRE, or equivalent. Evidence of ongoing professional development. RCCP registration or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of specialist or highly specialist experience in Cath Lab/Pacing.

Desirable Qualifications

Progressing towards a specialist practitioner accreditation in a specific area of cardiac physiology, with an interest in physiologist-led syncope pathways.
