Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Systems and Engineering Design for the Circular Economy

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join our team at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. The successful candidate will be part of the Circular Economy and Sustainability Lab, working on the Circular Electrical and Electronics Programme, funded by UKRI.
The programme aims to develop systems and engineering design solutions to enable a Circular Economy for Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE). The Research Assistant will conduct a Material Flow Analysis and Life-Cycle Assessment of WEEE, establish circular material, component, product, and system-level design guidelines, and develop and test solutions with industry to improve the reuse, repair, remanufacture, and recycling of EEE.
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant PhD/DPhil in Engineering, Engineering Science, Engineering Design, or Systems Engineering, with sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within the established research programme. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic to learn and work independently and as part of a larger team working on the transition to the circular economy.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a Material Flow Analysis and Life-Cycle Assessment of WEEE
- Establish circular material, component, product, and system-level design guidelines
- Develop and test solutions with industry to improve the reuse, repair, remanufacture, and recycling of EEE
- Identify potential applications and demonstrator projects for emerging and digital technologies to support the reuse, repair, remanufacturing, and recycling of EEE
Requirements:
- Relevant PhD/DPhil in Engineering, Engineering Science, Engineering Design, or Systems Engineering
- Sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within the established research programme
- Enthusiasm to learn and work independently and as part of a larger team working on the transition to the circular economy
