Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Systems and Engineering Design for the Circular Economy

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join our Circular Economy and Sustainability Lab at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. The successful candidate will be part of the Circular Electrical and Electronics Programme, which aims to develop systems and engineering design solutions to enable a Circular Economy for Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE).
The Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting a Material Flow Analysis and Life-Cycle Assessment of WEEE, establishing circular material, component, product, and system-level design guidelines, and developing and testing solutions with industry to improve the reuse, repair, remanufacture, and recycling of EEE. The ideal candidate will possess a relevant PhD/DPhil and sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within the established research programme.
The successful candidate will be part of a larger team working on the transition to the circular economy and will have the opportunity to work on ambitious academic inquiry. Key Responsibilities:- Conduct a Material Flow Analysis and Life-Cycle Assessment of WEEE
- Establish circular material, component, product, and system-level design guidelines
- Develop and test solutions with industry to improve the reuse, repair, remanufacture, and recycling of EEE
- Relevant PhD/DPhil in a relevant field
- Sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within the established research programme
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
