Position Overview

This fixed-term role is dedicated to overseeing the management of the Colorectal Cancer Care initiative within the Community Diagnostic Centre.

The individual in this position will provide leadership in change management and possess specialized expertise in enhancing processes and systems throughout the organization.

Additionally, this role involves evaluating current procedures and care pathways, as well as implementing innovative practices aimed at improving the treatment and support of patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will:

  • Assess, enhance, and monitor patient care pathways while facilitating the integration of screening processes into these pathways.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary cancer care teams, specialized nursing staff, and operational leaders to design effective patient pathways, considering the implications of emerging technologies and evolving work environments.
  • Encourage teamwork and collaboration in the development of new operational methods, providing guidance to staff throughout the transition to mitigate resistance to change.
  • Ensure that the project team meets its objectives, necessitating strong communication and negotiation skills to engage stakeholders from various organizations.
  • Organize and maintain regular patient engagement to ensure the project remains focused on patient needs.

About the Organization

The successful candidate will join a team of experienced nursing professionals, including both Band 7 and Band 6 colleagues, who are part of the current Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist team.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in Management Studies or a related area.
  • Thorough understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools, such as Prince 2 and Microsoft Project.

Experience

Essential

  • Familiarity with the public sector and healthcare management.
  • Extensive experience operating effectively in politically sensitive contexts.
  • Proven ability to draft briefing documents and correspondence for senior management.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating projects within complex and challenging settings.

Desirable

  • Experience within a healthcare environment.
