Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for three highly skilled Nurses to become integral members of the Colorectal team at the Community Diagnostic Centre, focusing on the coordination of care for patients diagnosed with cancer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate innovative diagnostic pathways while ensuring the accuracy of the existing patient database.
  • Facilitate educational initiatives in collaboration with clinicians, enhancing both clinician and patient understanding.
  • Ensure appropriate patients are discussed in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide essential information regarding condition management to patients and facilitate their enrollment in relevant trials.
  • Engage actively in nursing matters related to cancer care, aligning with both local and national standards.

Funding for these positions is secured for a fixed term.

We seek individuals eager to enhance their clinical and leadership capabilities, possessing experience in advanced nursing roles, and ready to contribute effectively from the outset.

Main Duties

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and oversee patient pathways for those diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
  • Serve as a resource for education and awareness regarding the surveillance and management of colorectal cancer.
  • Work towards establishing a comprehensive database to ensure all patients are informed about available trials.
  • Adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of conduct.
  • Ensure compliance with all local and national human resources policies, procedures, and guidelines.

About the Organization

You will join a dedicated team of experienced nurses, including both Band 7 and Band 6 professionals, who currently make up the Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist team.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant post-registration experience to prepare for this role.
  • 1st Level Nursing Degree (or working towards).
  • Evidence of ongoing academic education and professional development.
  • Registered General Nurse (RGN).

Desirable

  • Progress towards a specialty-related Master’s degree.
  • Completion of a history taking and physical examination course.
  • Independent Nurse Prescribing course.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a multi-professional healthcare environment.
  • Experience liaising with primary healthcare providers.
  • Management experience.
  • Evidence of involvement in audit processes.

Desirable

  • Experience in running nurse-led clinics.
  • Knowledge of statistics and report writing.
  • Ability to create patient information and educational materials.

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to independently manage projects and see them through to completion.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Advanced communication skills qualification (or working towards).

Desirable

  • Experience in cross-site working.
