Position Overview

The Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to announce an opportunity for a Healthcare Support Practitioner who is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to our patients.

This role is situated within a 30-bed inpatient unit, focusing on providing comprehensive care, rehabilitation, and end-of-life support to individuals recovering from acute medical conditions or those referred directly by their general practitioners.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of this position is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients over extended periods. You will play a crucial role in their personalized treatment plans, contributing to their journey towards improved health and well-being. Additionally, our department is instrumental in reducing the need for hospital admissions through specialized care.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Healthcare Support Practitioner operates within the nursing domain to deliver high-quality care across various age groups and nursing specialties. Under the guidance and delegation of a Registered Nurse, you will take responsibility for your assigned tasks.
  • You will collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing health and social care that addresses the holistic needs of service users.
  • Specific clinical duties and responsibilities will be carried out as assigned by registered nursing professionals.
  • Mentoring and training of junior staff will be an integral part of your role.

Qualifications and Training

Essential Requirements

  • Foundation Degree in Healthcare Practice (Nursing Associate) or Foundation Degree in Healthcare (Assistant Practitioner)
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (Grades A-C or 4-7) or Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal clinical knowledge and skills development

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching Healthcare Assistants and Pre-Registration students in fundamental healthcare practices
