Position Overview:
This role is responsible for providing overarching strategic direction and leadership, ensuring that a suite of Training Services and associated projects are delivered within budget, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. Initially, this position will focus on shaping the strategy, aligning existing and upcoming offerings with delivery teams, and consolidating these into a cohesive portfolio. As the role evolves, it will oversee an expanding array of work, including bid and project teams, as well as sales and marketing efforts.

Provide leadership and direction to ensure the successful execution of Training projects and work packages across Mine Warfare, Anti-Submarine Warfare, and the Services sectors. This includes:
- Assuming ultimate accountability for the delivery of Training projects and work packages, along with associated management and financial reporting.
- Offering strategic organizational, market, and business context to drive successful project outcomes.
- Fostering a strong and engaged team culture focused on successful delivery with a unified Thales approach.
- Serving as the primary point of reference to ensure effective management of key relationships and that essential customer, industry, and business knowledge and networks are leveraged to deliver projects.
- Providing overall strategic governance for the effective application of Thales project management processes.
- Extensive management experience in large, complex, demanding, multi-entity, international programmes within the maritime naval domain.
- Degree-level education in a discipline relevant to Project Management and the technical expertise required to deliver sensitive maritime projects.
- Professional accreditation with the Association for Project Management (or equivalent professional experience).
- Ability to adapt leadership style to achieve desired results from interactions with team members and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to lead teams effectively.
- Capability to provide strategic oversight and direction to ensure successful project delivery across complex organizational and stakeholder landscapes.
- Excellent professional project management knowledge and the ability to implement successful project management strategies in a multifaceted organization.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to engage with customers, partners, suppliers, and other business areas.
- Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in written presentation and report writing.
- Commercial, financial, and business acumen.
- A positive attitude complemented by excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.
- Ability to adjust personal management and communication style to achieve desired outcomes from interactions with team members and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with the warship technical domain, including naval systems integration and combat systems, and the ability to interface with shipbuilding entities.
- Growing to approximately £120M of Projects with full accountability for maintaining project timelines and budgets.
This role will require SC Clearance. While it is advantageous to currently hold this clearance, it is mandatory for the successful applicant to undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance. For further guidance, please visit the UKSV website.
To qualify for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last five years. In certain circumstances, a minimum of three years' residence in the UK over the last five years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
