Role Overview:

This position will lead the strategic direction and governance of Training Services and associated projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Initially, the role will focus on shaping the strategy, aligning existing offers and delivery teams, and consolidating these into a cohesive portfolio. As the role evolves, it will encompass the management of an expanding array of projects, including bid and project teams, as well as sales and marketing efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure the successful execution of Training projects across Mine Warfare, Anti-Submarine Warfare, and Services sectors.
  • Assume ultimate accountability for the delivery of Training projects and work packages, including management and financial reporting.
  • Offer strategic organizational, market, and business insights to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Foster a strong team ethos focused on successful delivery with a unified approach.
  • Serve as the primary point of reference for managing key relationships and leveraging essential customer, industry, and business knowledge to deliver projects effectively.
  • Ensure strategic governance for the effective application of Thales project management processes.

About You:

  • Extensive management experience in large, complex, multi-entity, international programs within the maritime naval domain.
  • Degree-level education in a relevant discipline compatible with Project Management requirements and technical understanding for sensitive maritime projects.
  • Professional accreditation with the Association for Project Management or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to adapt leadership style to achieve desired results in interactions with team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and capability to lead teams effectively.
  • Strategic overview and direction to drive successful project delivery across complex organizational and stakeholder landscapes.
  • Excellent project management knowledge with the ability to implement successful strategies in a multifaceted organization.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills for effective collaboration with customers, partners, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including written presentation and report writing.
  • Commercial, financial, and business acumen.

  • Knowledge of naval systems integration and combat systems, with the ability to interface with shipbuilding entities.

Financial Responsibility:

  • Accountable for managing a growing portfolio of projects valued at approximately £120M, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

Security Clearance:

This role requires SC Clearance. While current clearance is advantageous, successful candidates must undergo the process to achieve and maintain SC Clearance.
