We are currently seeking a Product Safety Manager to oversee the safety engineering aspects of our significant projects, which include the development of autonomous systems and flagship naval programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the execution of safety engineering tasks for UWS projects, ensuring timely delivery of all safety documentation and requirements;
  • Serve as the primary contact for safety expertise within your projects, assisting the Project Design Authority and other engineering teams;
  • Coordinate with customer representatives on all safety-related matters;
  • Ensure that the safety management strategies for all projects comply with Thales protocols and customer specifications, including relevant standards;
  • Promptly address any safety concerns regarding products or policy applications, and lead investigations to resolve these issues;
  • Assist the UWS Safety Assurance Manager and Safety Authority in fulfilling their responsibilities to guarantee the safety of all UWS projects and systems.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of Safety Management Processes and proven experience in implementing safety engineering activities;
  • Familiarity with formal hazard identification and assessment methodologies, as well as IT-based Hazard Log management systems;
  • Understanding of product environmental, material, and safety-related legislation, regulations, and standards;
  • Experience in the Defense sector and familiarity with associated Defense Standards is preferred, or knowledge of similar safety management processes in critical domains;
  • Experience in Functional and/or Software Safety, with knowledge of Def Stan or IEC 61508 being advantageous;
  • Comprehension of engineering lifecycle management and its applications.

Security Clearance:

This position requires SC Clearance. While it is beneficial to have this clearance already, candidates must be willing to undergo the necessary process to obtain and maintain it.
