Position Overview:
We are seeking a Product Safety Manager to oversee safety engineering initiatives for our significant projects, particularly in the realm of autonomous systems and future naval programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the execution of safety engineering tasks for UWS projects, ensuring timely delivery of all safety documentation and compliance with established requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for safety expertise, collaborating with project teams and engineering functions to support their objectives.
- Engage with customer representatives regarding all safety-related matters.
- Ensure that safety management strategies align with Thales processes and customer specifications, including relevant defense standards.
- Promptly address any safety concerns regarding products or processes, leading investigations to resolve issues effectively.
- Assist the UWS Safety Assurance Manager in fulfilling their responsibilities to guarantee the safety of all UWS projects and systems.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of safety management processes and proven experience in implementing safety engineering practices.
- Familiarity with formal hazard identification techniques and IT-based hazard log management systems.
- Understanding of environmental, material, and safety-related legislation and standards.
- Experience in the defense sector and familiarity with associated defense standards is preferred.
- Knowledge of functional and software safety, including standards such as Def Stan or IEC 61508, is a plus.
- Comprehension of engineering lifecycle management and its applications.
Security Clearance:
This position requires SC Clearance. Candidates must be prepared to undergo the clearance process if not currently held. Eligibility typically requires residency in the UK for the past five years.
