Tactical Buyer MSET UWS

We are seeking a highly skilled Tactical Buyer to join our Marine Sensor Enhancement Team (MSET) in the UK. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the sustained, long-term availability and resilience of critical assets, spares, and repairs for the Royal Navy Fleet.
Key Responsibilities- Support the MSET contract, a £1.85 billion contract awarded to Thales, to maximise days at sea for the Royal Navy Fleet.
- Ensure the procurement process is efficient and effective, with a focus on delivering high-quality results within tight deadlines.
- Work closely with the category team to prepare quotes, analyse data, and summarise quotes for category buyers.
- Manage purchasing orders, including cancellation, rescheduling, or changes to quantity or price.
- Ensure suppliers acknowledge receipt of orders and provide delivery commitments.
- Follow up and expedite procurement orders to ensure timely delivery and quality requirements are met.
- Manage disputes and problem-solving, and negotiate with suppliers within the designated threshold.
- Prepare reports on procurements, including cost analysis.
- Proven skills and experience in procurement or supply chain/manufacturing roles.
- Computer literacy, particularly with MS Office packages and MRP systems.
- Customer-focused with a strong understanding of technical and non-technical requirements.
- Delivery-oriented with a focus on meeting budget and contractual commitments.
- Proven negotiation skills and ability to build effective relationships with suppliers.
- Relevant experience in using MRP/ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP.
