Role Overview

  • Position: Indirect Tax Manager
  • Summary: Responsible for managing indirect tax obligations, including sales/use tax, VAT/GST/HST, and other related projects.
  • Classification: Exempt (US Only)
  • People Management: No

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with indirect tax regulations and reporting requirements across various regions including the UK, EU, US, Canada, and LATAM.
  • Provide guidance and oversight on all indirect tax matters across all operational territories.
  • Lead audits and inquiries related to indirect tax, maintaining relationships with local tax authorities and external consultants.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to offer strategic indirect tax advice for business initiatives.
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile indirect tax journal entries to guarantee accurate financial reporting.
  • Support the implementation of Oracle ERP systems concerning indirect tax.
  • Identify and document process inefficiencies within the indirect tax function.
  • Evaluate indirect tax issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Enhance indirect tax knowledge through training and collaboration with business and tax partners.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Indirect Tax team, including budgeting and professional development.
  • Conduct research and analysis on a variety of tax-related issues.
  • Assist with additional tax-related projects as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 8 to 11 years of experience in global indirect tax within large multinational firms or public accounting, with a strong focus on VAT/GST and sales/use tax.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required; a Master's in Taxation or ACCA/CPA is preferred.
  • Experience with sales tax software such as Avalara, Vertex, and Oracle is advantageous.
  • A comprehensive understanding of indirect tax in procurement, supply chain, and customs duties is a plus.
  • Proven track record in enhancing and automating tax processes.
  • Strong research and communication abilities.
  • A collaborative team player willing to engage at all levels.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and capable of working independently.
  • Ability to tackle complex issues and align business goals with tax compliance strategies.

Compensation: The starting salary for this position typically ranges from £66,000 to £78,000, with a total range of £66,000 to £100,000, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
