Role Overview

Job Title: Indirect Tax Manager Job Summary: Responsible for managing indirect tax matters, including sales/use tax, gross receipts, VAT/GST/HST, and other related projects. FLSA Classification (US Only): Exempt People Manager: No

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with tax obligations and reporting requirements across various regions including the UK, EU, US, Canada, and LATAM for indirect taxes such as VAT/GST, sales & use tax, and gross receipts. Provide expert guidance on all indirect tax issues across all regions. Lead audits and inquiries related to indirect tax, managing relationships with local tax authorities and external advisors. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to offer strategic indirect tax advice for business operations, including expansion initiatives. Prepare, review, and reconcile indirect tax journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting. Support the implementation of Oracle ERP systems in relation to indirect taxes. Identify and document process gaps within the indirect tax function. Evaluate and address issues, efficiencies, and opportunities concerning indirect taxes. Foster indirect tax awareness through training and collaboration with business and tax partners. Oversee daily operations of the Indirect Tax team, including budgeting, training, and development. Conduct research and analysis on a variety of tax issues and implications. Assist with additional tax-related projects as required.

Qualifications

Eight (8) to eleven (11) years of experience in global indirect tax at large multinational corporations or public accounting firms, with a strong understanding of VAT/GST and proven experience in sales and use tax and property tax. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required; a Master's in Taxation and/or ACCA/CPA is preferred. Familiarity with sales tax software such as Avalara, Vertex, and Oracle is advantageous. A broad background in indirect tax related to procurement, supply chain, and customs duties is a plus. Experience in enhancing, automating, and implementing tax processes and workflows. Strong research and communication skills are essential. A collaborative team player who is willing to engage in tasks at all levels. Highly organized, self-driven, and capable of working independently with an entrepreneurial mindset. Ability to take ownership of complex challenges and align business objectives with tax compliance strategies.
