We are currently in search of a knowledgeable Indirect Tax Specialist to join our proactive Finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Tax.

The Indirect Tax Specialist will oversee both indirect and direct tax compliance and reporting for Tradition's UK entities and associated organizations. This role is particularly suited for a professional with a strong background in VAT who is eager to broaden their expertise into direct tax compliance and reporting. Tradition is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of its team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring reconciliation with the VAT account in the general ledger.
  • Examine invoices and supporting documentation, updating VAT calculations as necessary.
  • Address ad hoc VAT inquiries and requests from various departments.
  • Assist in responding to VAT inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Calculate quarterly corporation tax installment payments for the UK.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and address audit inquiries.
  • Prepare and file UK corporation tax computations and returns.
  • Conduct tax accounting, including general ledger entries, and review and reconcile figures.
  • Assist the Head of Tax with additional responsibilities, including transfer pricing documentation, withholding tax, and business restructuring.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting or tax qualification (CA / ACA / ACCA / ATT / CTA or equivalent). Part-qualified candidates are welcome to apply.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in indirect tax compliance and reporting, ideally within the financial services sector.
  • Preferably possess experience in direct tax compliance and reporting.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in a comparable role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining a broader perspective.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a collaborative team player.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to change.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management.
  • Proven capability to resolve complex issues and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and implement effective changes.
  • Capacity to take ownership of ad hoc tasks or small projects from inception to completion, delivering definitive results.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
