UK Indirect Tax Manager

Overview of the Position:

The Group Tax division is a compact yet impactful team dedicated to ensuring compliance with intricate VAT and tax regulations, significantly contributing to the organization's success. As the UK Indirect Tax Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Indirect Tax for the UK operations, including those in Ireland and the Netherlands. You will lead the UK Indirect Tax Assistant, ensuring that all VAT transactions are meticulously recorded and managed.

This role presents a unique opportunity for an Indirect Tax expert to influence the business positively. You will engage in the SAP S/4 implementation project and utilize a tax compliance tool for reporting purposes. By fostering relationships with colleagues across various departments, you will identify potential savings, streamline processes, and enhance understanding of tax responsibilities within the organization.

The position is based in London, requiring in-office presence three days a week, with two days working remotely. Willingness to travel to various locations in the UK and Ireland is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivering valuable business advisory services on all indirect tax issues within the UK. Taking ownership of VAT compliance processes and tax return reporting, ensuring timeliness and accuracy while addressing any issues that arise. Supervising the UK Indirect Tax Assistant, setting performance objectives, and managing deliverables. Maintaining and documenting the Tax Risk Register for compliance with the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) requirements. Collaborating with the Group Head of Indirect Tax and key stakeholders to implement long-term strategies affecting the management of indirect tax affairs. Providing training and raising awareness regarding indirect tax matters. Identifying and mitigating risks while optimizing opportunities for tax savings. Ensuring compliance with Product Liability and adhering to relevant regulations, monitoring legislative changes, and negotiating with tax authorities as necessary. Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, tax authorities, and external partners. Staying informed about legislative and case law developments, analyzing their implications, and implementing necessary changes. Supporting the Group Head of Indirect Tax on significant projects that impact the UK and the global group.

Qualifications for Success:

Experience in VAT within an industry setting. Proven track record of identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing effective processes. Experience in line management. Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems. Strong time management capabilities. Self-motivated and proactive approach. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with tax reporting tools. Relevant VAT experience in the retail sector.
