Job Summary

Wood is seeking a highly experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen, supporting our major UK North Sea clients with brownfield Oil & Gas modifications. As a key member of our structural team, you will provide design expertise to ensure delivery of projects to tight timescales, in accordance with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide structural engineering expertise to project teams, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Define structural engineering requirements for technical scopes, developing deliverables and documentation for offshore construction workpacks.
  • Execute facility engineering design, undertaking engineering checking and approvals, and ensuring compliance with Company Core Values and Ethics Policy.
  • Support and supervise tasks delegated to direct reports, including remote work centers, and prepare input to project plans and progress reporting.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports, promoting knowledge sharing and self-awareness of relevant regulatory frameworks, legislation changes, and industry developments.
Requirements
  • Technical competence in structural engineering, with experience in brownfield Oil & Gas projects.
  • Proficiency in specialist software packages, including MathCad and STAADpro.
  • Ability to work independently, with a flexible and can-do attitude, and establish effective working relationships with project stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with technical direction and control of brownfield Oil & Gas engineering projects.
