Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned legal professional with extensive expertise in Credit & Political Risk insurance to play a pivotal role in enhancing the growth and success of our esteemed Credit & Political Risk division. This is an opportunity to engage in a vibrant and cooperative setting where your contributions will be essential to a variety of transactional and specialized tasks, leveraging the legal acumen gained from experience in a law firm or corporate environment. Our clientele primarily consists of international banks, traders, and multilateral organizations, with transactions encompassing everything from short-term trade flows to securitized financial products.

The position entails the continuous development and maintenance of knowledge regarding the pertinent legal framework, along with the responsibility of educating the broader team in your areas of specialization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver legal counsel concerning policy wordings for banking, trading, and corporate clients. Depending on your qualifications and experience, this may extend to direct involvement in negotiations with brokers.
  • Assess documentation for Significant Risk Transfer transactions and collaborate with external legal advisors to assist the Head of Structured Credit in ensuring timely execution.
  • Provide legal support on an ad hoc basis, including but not limited to NDAs, supplier agreements, complex transaction documents, and the procurement of external legal opinions.
  • Cultivate and disseminate a sophisticated understanding of emerging risks and opportunities related to policy and transaction documentation.
  • Offer occasional support to the Claims department regarding coverage matters and intricate restructurings.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Qualified legal practitioner with proven knowledge of Credit and Political Risk insurance and a robust network within the industry.
  • Familiarity with synthetic securitization transactions and related documentation.
  • Awareness of and active engagement with current market trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated individual with a drive to excel in the credit and political risk sector.
  • Eagerness to establish a personal brand through innovative solutions and insights.
  • Flexible mindset capable of adapting to a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in developing and comprehending business processes, strategies, and planning.
  • Ability to foster and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, brokers, and insured parties.
