We are seeking a Commercial Director to support the commercialization of a number of sporting and entertainment properties within our growing portfolio.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be primarily responsible for managing the commercial success of these portfolio projects. This will include the management of revenue streams from hosting, ticketing, merchandise, sponsorship, media, and data.

To be successful in this role, you should have direct experience originating, managing, and converting sales opportunities within the sports and entertainment sector.

The ideal candidate will have direct experience as a commercial director or potentially as a commercial manager looking to step up into a wider role.

Direct sector experience within sports and entertainment, as well as a big passion to work in this sector, will be viewed favourably.


Commercial Strategy Development:

  • Lead the creation and execution of the overall commercial strategy for sports and entertainment events, ensuring alignment with business goals and maximizing revenue opportunities.
  • Identify new market trends, audience segments, and revenue streams to enhance the commercial viability of events.
Develop and drive strategies to grow revenue through sponsorship, partnerships, ticket sales, merchandise, licensing, and media rights.

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential sponsors, broadcasters, and key business partners to secure new commercial opportunities.
Lead the development of sponsorship packages, working closely with the sales team to pitch and secure high-value partnerships.

  • Contract Negotiation &

Deal Structuring:

  • Structure and finalize complex commercial deals, ensuring long-term profitability and strong partnerships.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing commercial team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.

  • Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to enhance team capabilities.
  • Monitor sales performance and coach the team to meet and exceed commercial objectives.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the commercial budget, ensuring accurate forecasting of revenues and tracking of key commercial performance indicators.
  • Analyze revenue performance and profitability, providing regular reports and recommendations to senior management.
Maintain strong relationships with high-profile clients, including sponsors and corporate partners, ensuring their commercial needs are met.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, representing the company at industry events and negotiations.

Media Rights & Licensing:

  • Oversee the negotiation and management of media rights, working with broadcasters and digital platforms to maximize exposure and revenue.
  • Identify opportunities for licensing intellectual property, merchandise, and digital content to generate additional revenue streams.

Post-Event Commercial Analysis:

  • Conduct post-event reviews and assessments to evaluate the success of commercial initiatives, including sponsorship activation, ticket sales, and media performance.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for improving commercial strategies in future events.
Bachelor's degree
~15+ years of experience in Commercial Sales/Relationship Management
~Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching skills
~ In-depth understanding of marketing function and the relationship with Commercial success
~ Familiarity with CRM software (e.g. Mailchimp, Salesforce, etc.)
~ A passion for sports, entertainment, and events-related businesses
