Position Overview

Technical Support Specialist (Automation Systems)

Midlands Region (Domestic & Global Travel)

Compensation Based on Expertise + Company Vehicle

Our organization is a frontrunner in the implementation of automated technologies across sectors such as Consumer Goods, Automotive, and Maritime. We are in search of a Technical Support Specialist who will oversee on-site maintenance and installation of comprehensive Electrical Automation Systems, including PLCs, AC/DC drives, general control equipment, and SCADA frameworks.

Core Duties – Technical Support Specialist (Automation Systems)

  • On-demand site assistance for client automation control systems, encompassing PLCs, Variable Speed Drives, robotic networks, and SCADA frameworks
  • Round-the-clock on-call support (scheduled rotation)
  • Systematic troubleshooting methodology
  • Testing of engineered automation systems in the workshop
  • Diagnosis and repair of components including PLCs, Variable Speed Drives, robotic networks, and SCADA frameworks
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematic diagrams and PLC programming
  • Maintain precise and current site logs and time records
  • Accurate documentation and marking of project schematics
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of tailored training programs to fulfill client needs
  • Provide support and mentorship to colleagues when feasible
  • Assist fellow engineers with on-site installation and maintenance of engineered automation systems
  • Support sales teams with technical insights, site evaluations, and proposals

Qualifications & Skills – Technical Support Specialist (Automation Systems)

  • Experience with variable speed drives from Siemens, ABB, Danfoss, Rockwell, CT, and Servo
  • Proficiency in PLC systems from Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Omron
  • Experience with robotics is a plus
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, contractors, and commissioning engineers regarding issues, progress, and objectives
  • Capable of engaging with other personnel on-site
