We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to become a part of our dedicated West Sussex Care Delivery Service on a fixed-term basis. This position is situated in a ward that specializes in providing in-patient care and treatment for adults.

This role includes a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000, along with a relocation allowance of up to £8000. The Recruitment and Retention payment is distributed in several installments:

  • £5000 upon appointment
  • £5000 at the 12-month employment anniversary
  • £6500 at the 30-month employment anniversary
  • £8500 at the 48-month employment anniversary

The Recruitment and Retention payment is pro rata for part-time employees. For further details regarding the Recruitment and Retention Payment and/or the Relocation Allowance, please reach out to our Medical Staffing Team.

Main Responsibilities: You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on the ward to deliver exceptional care to patients admitted for treatment. This role involves working alongside other acute in-patient services and local community teams. Additionally, this position supports opportunities for research, development, medical education, or personal special interests. We are committed to creating roles that not only provide essential services but also allow you to cultivate your own areas of expertise.

Upon appointment, you will have the chance to engage with the Trust-wide consultant network and benefit from peer support from colleagues in West Sussex.

Job Duties: You will be part of a welcoming and supportive multidisciplinary team, which includes Nurses, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and others. Please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification for comprehensive details regarding the role.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Fully registered with the GMC and holding a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of appointment.
  • Approved clinician status or the ability to achieve this within three months of appointment.
  • Strong knowledge in the specialty.

Desirable:

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • MRCPsych.
  • In good standing with GMC regarding warnings and conditions on practice.
  • Diverse specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the position within the NHS or a comparable service.
