We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to become part of our dedicated team within the West Sussex Care Delivery Service. This position is designed for a fixed term and is based in a ward that provides essential in-patient care and treatment for adults.

This role includes a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000, alongside a potential relocation allowance of up to £8000. The payment structure is as follows:

  • £5000 upon appointment
  • £5000 retention payment at the 12-month mark
  • £6500 retention payment at the 30-month mark
  • £8500 retention payment at the 48-month mark
The Recruitment and Retention payment is adjusted for part-time employees. For further details regarding the Recruitment and Retention Payment and/or the Relocation Allowance, please reach out to our Medical Staffing Team.

Main Responsibilities You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on the ward to deliver exceptional care to patients. This role also allows for engagement with other acute in-patient services and local community teams.

Additionally, this position can support various initiatives such as research, development, and medical education, enabling you to pursue your areas of special interest.

Upon joining, you will have the chance to connect with the Trust-wide consultant network and benefit from peer support from colleagues.

  • Fully registered with the GMC and holding a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of eligibility.
  • Approved clinician status or the ability to achieve this within three months of appointment.
  • Strong knowledge in the specialty.
Desirable Criteria
  • Higher qualification in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • MRCPsych qualification.
  • Good standing with GMC regarding practice conditions.
  • Diverse specialist experience relevant to the role within the NHS or similar services.
