About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Team Lead to join our Surgical Ward team at Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing clinical and professional leadership to a ward-based team of registered nurses and healthcare assistants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and professional leadership to the ward team, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence, taking charge of the ward and ensuring continuity of care.
  • Develop and implement care plans, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective patient outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs of care for patients, ensuring compliance with quality standards and patient experience.
  • Support the Team Leader in the day-to-day running of the ward, ensuring efficient management and effective service delivery.
  • Provide advice and support to junior staff, promoting their professional development and contributing to the Trust's appraisal system.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Registered General Nurse educated to degree level (or equivalent)
  • Specialist Practitioner Qualification - District Nursing (or equivalent postgraduate modules) or equivalent level nursing qualification/experience
  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of further recent study/professional development
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

We would also like to consider candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Independent non-medical prescriber or willing to undertake
  • Teaching/Mentorship Qualification
  • Clinical examination module (or willing to undertake)
  • Leadership Qualification - ILM level 6 or equivalent (or willing to work towards) or relevant experience
