About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Ward Manager to join our team at Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical and professional leadership for a ward-based team of registered nurses and healthcare assistants, and deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and professional leadership for a ward-based team of registered nurses and healthcare assistants
  • Deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence
  • Support the Team Leader with efficient management and day-to-day running of the ward
  • Monitor the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care for patients
  • Work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Provide advice and support to junior staff in the delivery of high-quality care
  • Actively support the Ward Manager in the management of the team
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Registered General Nurse educated to degree level (or equivalent)
  • Specialist Practitioner Qualification - District Nursing (or equivalent postgraduate modules) or equivalent level nursing qualification/experience
  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of further recent study/professional development
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

We would also like to consider candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Independent non-medical prescriber or willing to undertake
  • Teaching/Mentorship Qualification
  • Clinical examination module (or willing to undertake)
  • Leadership Qualification - ILM level 6 or equivalent (or willing to work towards) or relevant experience
