Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen to join a prominent main contractor specializing in the Social Housing sector.

Boden Group is seeking a Senior Cost Manager to lead a dedicated team of Quantity Surveyors on a significant Social Housing project.

This role is situated within a dynamic and enthusiastic team environment, providing excellent prospects for career advancement with structured support and a clear career pathway.

The position offers a hybrid working model, requiring presence in the office or on-site for four days a week, with one day allocated for remote work.

With a competitive salary of up to £70,000, complemented by an annual bonus structure of 10% and a vehicle or vehicle allowance, Boden Group presents an attractive package for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in the Social Housing sector, particularly from a main contractor perspective, and demonstrate a proven track record in team management.

Projects will encompass refurbishments, maintenance, and decarbonization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

To support the Commercial Manager in effective financial oversight during the pre-commencement phase, aiming to mitigate risks and enhance target contributions before project initiation.

To play a crucial role within the project team, ensuring the successful execution of each scheme. It is vital that the Senior Cost Manager engages in financial management and precise reporting, adhering to company protocols.

To assist the Commercial Manager with financial pre-commencement tasks, including pricing works for client submissions, consultant appointments, and initial subcontract negotiations.

To execute essential commercial functions such as bonus disbursements, subcontract procurement and oversight, site measurements, internal and external valuations, management of change orders, cost-value reporting, and performance reviews, all in line with the Quantity Surveyors Manual and Training Plan.

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • Proven industry experience in a Quantity Surveyor capacity
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks while maintaining high accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy and active listening
  • Comprehensive knowledge of social housing contracts, including responsive repairs and planned works

Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional interpersonal abilities, particularly in listening
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of budget forecasting, cash flow management, and cost-value reporting
  • Experience in managing a small team and fostering team member development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
