About the Role:

This is a remarkable opportunity for a well-organized and driven individual to oversee and assist a team of clerical staff and ward clerks at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.

The Patient Services Team plays a crucial role in delivering frontline customer service to patients receiving cancer treatment or managing blood disorders, alongside administrative responsibilities such as recording patient attendance and scheduling outpatient appointments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Demonstrate a compassionate and professional demeanor towards patients, families, and caregivers, particularly in challenging situations.
  • Communication: Serve as a primary contact for inquiries from both clinical and non-clinical personnel, ensuring polite and empathetic interactions with patients.
  • Escalate patient concerns, capacity issues, and general inquiries to the appropriate line manager or clinical staff as necessary.
  • Support the Day Unit and Ward Clerk teams in welcoming patients and updating patient information on Care flow.

Organizing and Planning:

  • Efficiently manage the patient appointment scheduling process, ensuring accurate bookings and proper documentation.
  • Assist in investigating patient complaints and ensure that lessons learned are communicated within the team.
  • Participate in relevant meetings as directed by the line manager.
  • Oversee the Open Referral Report, tracking patients and ensuring timely appointment bookings.
