Position Overview

As a Lead Clinical Psychologist specializing in Adult Autism Services, you will play a pivotal role in delivering expert consultation and clinical support for intricate cases characterized by significant emotional distress related to autism, alongside co-occurring conditions such as psychosis, anxiety, and mood disorders, including depression. You will also address enduring challenges that may have been classified under 'personality disorder' within the service framework.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing operational guidance within the specialized Adult Autism Service, ensuring that psychological practitioners adhere to established job plans while receiving the necessary operational and clinical oversight.
  • Collaborating closely with other psychological services to facilitate a seamless experience for service users and their families, under the leadership of the Care Pathway Lead.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments, delivering effective treatments, and implementing systematic outcome evaluations within the specialized care pathway.

Main Duties

In this role, you will:

  • Offer clinical leadership and high-quality supervision to practitioners within the integrated care pathway, ensuring compliance with best practices and organizational standards.
  • Supervise and mentor junior colleagues, including Band 7 and Band 8a professionals, as well as Assistant Psychologists and Clinical Associate Psychologists, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the strategic enhancement and transformation of Specialist Adult Autism Services, ensuring high-quality therapeutic delivery across the region.
  • Maintain a manageable clinical caseload to ensure direct engagement with service users.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Post-graduate qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, with additional specialized training relevant to autism populations.
  • Professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.

  • Extensive knowledge of evidence-based clinical practices, with a commitment to staying updated on advancements in psychology relevant to this demographic.
  • Experience managing high-risk cases and severe mental health challenges.

  • Proficiency in providing consultation to both professional and non-professional audiences.

Compensation
