Position Overview:

Leonardo is seeking an experienced Export Compliance Advisor to join our Trade Compliance team. As a leading global player in the Aerospace, Defence, and Security sectors, we pride ourselves on our commitment to compliance and operational excellence.

In this role, you will collaborate with various departments to ensure adherence to UK Export Control and Trade Compliance regulations. Your expertise will be crucial in providing guidance and support to our operations, particularly in Edinburgh, ensuring that all activities align with applicable trade laws.

This position may require occasional national and international travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with HMRC and DBT regulations.
  • Manage re-exports of goods under Customs control to mitigate financial liabilities.
  • Collaborate with Project Teams to ensure compliance with Export Control and Trade Compliance requirements.
  • Prepare for and support internal and external audits related to compliance matters.
  • Provide expert advice to Project Teams on UK Export Control regulations and internal policies.
  • Oversee the submission and management of Export Licence applications to the relevant authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with import regulations and provide clearance instructions to freight agents.
  • Process export notifications and requests, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in export control and trade compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK Export Licensing and Trade Controls.
  • Familiarity with international import/export regulations, particularly within the EU and US.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence decision-making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with SAP ERP systems.
  • Understanding of trade compliance in the aerospace, defence, and security sectors.

Security Clearance:

Eligibility for full security clearance is required for this position.
