We are seeking a Creative Knitwear Specialist to spearhead the knitwear division, focusing on the development and design of innovative collections that align with the overarching Monsoon brand strategy for the season while adhering to our unique aesthetic and business goals.

We are in search of an outstanding designer who can elevate brand visibility through contemporary designs that emphasize color, pattern, and meticulous attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities of the Creative Knitwear Specialist:

Conduct trend analysis and sourcing - Identify and showcase seasonal trends that resonate with the Monsoon brand, including essential fashion silhouettes, colors, and patterns for the season. Contribute to and manage a robust collection of reference materials, leveraging industry insights and research for the department throughout the season. Assemble compelling reference materials, including trend research, catwalk insights, and mood boards with color palettes. Source new seasonal yarns and refresh the existing yarn selection. Ensure that identified trends are developed through to final approval. Create distinctive in-house collections that offer innovation and commercial viability. Develop detailed design specifications utilizing advanced technical knitwear knowledge. Take ownership of the knitwear category and deliver new collections for the department. Maintain daily communication with international suppliers regarding technical inquiries. International travel may be necessary. Manage critical path planning for design timelines within the Knitwear category, ensuring deadlines are met. Present collections to management and internal teams. Create patterns and stitch artworks, including embroidery designs. Collaborate closely with the buying and broader design team to achieve the desired aesthetic within budget constraints. Work alongside the technical team, participating in initial fit sessions and any additional sessions needed to refine the product for our customers.

Qualifications for Success as a Creative Knitwear Specialist:

Proven experience as a Junior Designer or Designer with a blend of creative and technical skills in knitwear collection design across various categories. Strong understanding of technical yarn properties, including gauges, stitches, quality, and sustainability. A passionate and enthusiastic approach to design. Self-driven with the ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster strong working relationships. Capability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure. A keen eye for knitwear products, color trends, and market insights. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Confident in presenting collections and concepts. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of brand identity. Proficiency in CAD software, including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Quick and precise hand sketching skills or proficiency in Illustrator. Comfortable pitching ideas and presenting to larger teams.
