University of the Arts London is seeking a Knitwear Technician to become a vital member of our technical team on a part-time basis.

This role presents an excellent opportunity to enhance the educational experience by facilitating teaching and learning activities, while ensuring the efficient operation of college resources and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver formal and informal sessions to showcase essential processes and techniques, including stoll, yarn, dubied, domestic and machine methods, as well as knitted garment assembly and pattern calculation.
  • Oversee the daily management of designated areas and facilities within the college.
  • Coordinate the usage and scheduling of specialized facilities, such as darkrooms and studios, outside of scheduled teaching hours.
  • Collaborate closely with the Technical Coordinator/Manager to guarantee the safe operation of equipment and facilities.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree, an equivalent qualification, or significant experience in knitwear for fashion. You should also have a strong understanding of stoll, dubied, domestic knitting machines, hand knitting, garment construction, fully fashioning, and cut and sew techniques.

Proficiency in the Adobe Suite is essential, along with experience in CAD knitting, particularly with the Stoll M1 / create plus program.
