We are in search of a Creative Knitwear Specialist to spearhead the knitwear division, focusing on the development and design of innovative collections that resonate with the overarching Monsoon brand strategy for the season, ensuring alignment with our distinctive style and business goals.

We seek an outstanding designer who excels in contemporary design, emphasizing color, pattern, and meticulous attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities of the Creative Knitwear Specialist:

Conduct trend analysis and sourcing - Identify and showcase seasonal trends relevant to the Monsoon brand, including key fashion silhouettes, colors, and patterns. Contribute to and oversee the development of strong reference materials, incorporating industry insights and research for departmental use throughout the season. Compile compelling reference materials, including trend research, catwalk analysis, and mood boards with color palettes. Source new seasonal yarns and refresh the existing yarn collection. Ensure that identified trends progress through to the final approval stage. Design unique in-house collections that deliver freshness and commercial viability. Create detailed design specifications with comprehensive technical knitwear expertise. Take ownership of the knitwear category and deliver new collections for the department. Maintain daily communication with international suppliers regarding technical inquiries. International travel may be required. Manage critical path planning for design timelines within the Knitwear category, ensuring deadlines are met. Present collections to management and internal teams. Develop pattern and stitch artworks, including embroidery designs. Collaborate closely with the buying and broader design teams to achieve the desired aesthetic within budget constraints. Work alongside the technical team, participating in initial fit sessions and any additional sessions necessary to refine the product for our customers.

Qualifications for Success as a Creative Knitwear Specialist:

Proven experience as a Junior Designer or Designer with both creative and technical capabilities in designing knitwear collections across various categories. Strong understanding of technical yarn properties, including gauges, stitches, quality, and sustainability. A passionate and enthusiastic approach. Self-driven with the ability to work independently. Confident and articulate communicator, capable of building strong professional relationships. Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure. A keen eye for knitwear products, color, and trends. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Proficient in presenting collections and concepts effectively. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of 'brand identity.' Proficient in CAD software, including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Quick and precise in hand sketching designs or using Illustrator. Confident in pitching ideas and presenting to broader teams.
