Job Title: Knitwear Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Knitwear Designer to join our team at Monsoon Accessorize. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading and driving the knit department in developing and designing original ranges that align with our brand strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Trend research and sourcing: Identify and present seasonal trends that are relevant to our brand, including key fashion shapes, colors, and patterns.
  • Reference material development: Contribute to and oversee the creation of strong and new reference material, including industry knowledge and research, for the department to use throughout the season.
  • Design development: Compile strong reference material, including researching, catwalk trend, and compiling mood boards and color palettes.
  • Yarn sourcing: Source new seasonal yarns and update our current yarn range.
  • Design completion: Ensure identified trends are completed through to sign-off stage.
  • Collection creation: Create unique, in-house collections that deliver newness and commerciality.
  • Design specs: Produce/design specs with detailed technical knitwear knowledge.
  • Category ownership: Own the knitwear category and deliver new collections for the department.
  • Communication: Maintain daily communication with international suppliers on any technical enquiries.
  • Travel: International travel will be required.
  • Project planning: Responsible for critical path planning of design time for Knitwear category and meeting deadlines.
  • Range presentation: Presenting ranges to management and internal teams.
  • Pattern and stitch artworks: Create pattern and stitch artworks, including embroidery designs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with buying and wider design team to achieve 'the look' within price ranges.
  • Product development: Work with the technical team, involved in 1st fit sessions, and any additional sessions required to develop the best product for our customers.
Requirements:
  • Established Junior Designer or Designer with creative and technical ability to design knitwear collections, across all categories.
  • Understanding of technical yarn capabilities, including gauges, stitch, quality, and sustainability.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work under own initiative.
  • Confident and articulate communicator with an ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to deliver to tight timescales and work under pressure.
  • A good eye for knitwear product, color, and trends.
  • Highly organized and detailed-oriented.
  • Confident in presenting collections/concepts.
  • Ability to demonstrate and understanding of 'brand handwriting'.
  • CAD skills: Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator.
  • Quick and accurate ability to hand sketch designs or Illustrator.
  • Confident with pitching ideas and presenting to wider teams.
