Design Assistant - Knitwear

Crew Clothing Head Office is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Design Assistant to support our knitwear design team. As a Design Assistant, you will play a key role in the administration of design tasks, presentations, archiving, and studio maintenance.

Responsibilities:
  • Sample management: Organize and maintain samples in the studio and back room archive.
  • Travel administration: Manage travel costs and book travel and accommodation for the design team.
  • Design Studio: Maintain a well-organized studio environment and recommend improvements to enhance creativity.
  • General office duties: Perform filing, post, answering telephone calls, and monitoring stationery stock levels.
  • Note taking: Take notes during presentations as required.
  • Assist in setting up rooms for meetings and presentations.
  • Assist in chasing up samples from suppliers.
  • Set up product boards and maintain them.
Design:
  • Research: Conduct internet and external research on current trends and styling, maintaining a reference library for designers.
  • Range plans: Keep range plans up to date and ready for sign-off meetings, in liaison with the artworker.
  • Basic CAD and coloring in Adobe CS4: Support designers and maintain range plans.
  • Artworking: Produce basic stripes, checks, and prints, and prepare signed-off artwork for suppliers.
  • Fabric and trim folder library: Maintain a well-organized archive of fabrics and relevant file systems.
  • Working with designers to update lab dip files.
  • Product Development: Support designers in communicating with suppliers on the product development cycle.
Key Skills and Experience:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in fashion design or related field.
  • Excellent computer skills in CAD, Adobe, Illustrator, Excel, and other related programs.
  • Good eye for detail, organized, and pride in work.
  • Must be a good team player.
  • Keen interest in fashion, design, and the market place.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keen to learn and acquire new skills.
