Children's Hearings Scotland (CHS) is embarking on a transformative journey aimed at significantly enhancing the outcomes for infants, children, and young people who require our support. As the Corporate Governance Manager, you will collaborate closely with our Board and Senior Leadership team to facilitate essential functions within CHS that drive these improvements.

Role Overview

This pivotal strategic position is integral to CHS's mission of fostering transformation and achieving operational excellence. The individual in this role will be tasked with establishing and upholding the highest standards of corporate governance throughout the organization. You will engage with the Senior Leadership Team, board members, and colleagues across various departments, adopting a strategic perspective on corporate governance. Your responsibilities will include developing and managing procedures that ensure effective and impactful governance while proactively identifying opportunities to enhance resilience within processes and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic corporate governance initiatives, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of its vital role in fulfilling CHS's corporate plan and strategic objectives.
  • Promote continuous enhancement of our Corporate Governance framework, advancing best practices in governance.
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory annual returns, including the annual report and accounts, ensuring compliance with established timelines.
  • Lead the organizational strategy for information governance and data protection, establishing clear expectations and ensuring adherence to the highest standards.
  • Supervise the secretariat function and governance operations within the organization.
  • Provide independent counsel and support to the Director of Business and Finance and the Chief Executive on matters related to statutory and legislative compliance.
  • Equip the senior leadership team and the Board with the necessary information, resources, governance support, and secretariat services to effectively manage the organization.
  • Manage risk and business continuity strategies.
