Children's Hearings Scotland (CHS) is currently experiencing a transformative phase aimed at significantly enhancing the outcomes for infants, children, and young people in need. As the Corporate Governance Manager, you will collaborate closely with our Board and Senior Leadership team to facilitate essential functions within CHS that drive these improvements.

Role Overview

This pivotal strategic position plays a crucial role in realizing CHS's vision for transformation and operational excellence. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing and upholding the highest standards of corporate governance throughout the organization. You will engage with the Senior Leadership Team, board members, and colleagues across various departments, adopting a strategic perspective on corporate governance. This includes developing and managing procedures that ensure effective and impactful governance while proactively identifying opportunities to enhance resilience in processes and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic corporate governance initiatives, fostering understanding of its vital role in achieving CHS's corporate objectives.
  • Drive continuous enhancement of our Corporate Governance framework, promoting best practices in governance.
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory annual returns, including the annual report and accounts, ensuring compliance with established timelines.
  • Direct the organizational strategy for information governance and data protection, establishing expectations and ensuring adherence to the highest standards.
  • Manage the secretariat function, overseeing governance and business operations.
  • Provide independent counsel and support to the Director of Business and Finance and the Chief Executive on statutory and legislative compliance matters.
  • Equip the senior leadership team and the Board with the necessary information, resources, governance, communications, and secretariat support to effectively manage the organization.
  • Oversee risk management and business continuity planning.
